Michael Schiferl, MS, S-MFT

https://www.mkscounseling.com/

Michael is originally from northwest Kansas and graduated from Auburn University with a master's degree in marriage and family therapy. He enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families.

I once heard a quote by Maya Angelou which says, "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." I agree. Carrying untold stories of abuse, broken relationships, hopelessness, and anxiety by yourself is unbearable. I'm here to help share the weight of these burdens as we work together to rewrite your story into one of restoration and healing.

My education, research, and clinical experience have equipped me to work with a variety of clients. I especially enjoy teaching trauma survivors how to manage their distress and process their trauma so they can put the past behind them. As a marriage and family therapist, I also help couples and families learn to manage their conflict, communicate effectively, and heal broken relationships.

I know that going to therapy takes courage and you will have my unconditional positive regard no matter what you tell me in session. You can expect to work with someone who's empathetic, compassionate, and willing to push you when necessary. My friends and family will also tell you that I'm never far from cracking a joke!

In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors, reading, and staying involved in my local church. I'm a proud K-State alum but will happily work with KU or Missouri fans. I've visited four continents and hope to make it five someday soon!

Education:

Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy - Auburn University
Bachelor of Science in Family Studies and Human Services - Kansas State
Bachelor of Science in Psychology - Kansas State
